Overwatch 2 Review: The Evolution of an Iconic Team Shooter

Welcome to our in-depth review of Overwatch 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Blizzard Entertainment's iconic team-based shooter. In this article, we will dive into the game's new features, improved gameplay mechanics, and exciting updates that make it a worthy successor to its predecessor. Join us as we explore the evolution of Overwatch and its promising future in the world of competitive gaming.

Enhanced Gameplay and New Hero Abilities

Overwatch 2 builds upon the fast-paced and dynamic gameplay of its predecessor, introducing several exciting enhancements. One notable addition is the introduction of passive abilities, allowing heroes to possess unique passive traits that complement their playstyles. This adds an extra layer of strategy to team compositions and encourages players to explore different hero combinations.

The sequel also brings a fresh roster of heroes, each with their own distinctive abilities. From the agile and elusive Sojourn to the brawny and formidable Reinhardt, Overwatch 2 offers a diverse range of characters to suit various playstyles. This expansion of the hero pool injects new life into the game, enticing players to experiment and discover new strategies.

Stunning Visual Upgrades and Evocative Maps

Blizzard Entertainment has spared no expense in elevating the visual experience in Overwatch 2. The game showcases enhanced graphics, delivering stunning character models, detailed environments, and eye-catching special effects. Each hero's abilities come to life with flair, creating visually impactful moments during gameplay.

The sequel introduces new maps that captivate players with their attention to detail and immersive design. From sprawling cityscapes to treacherous terrains, each map offers unique challenges and strategic opportunities. The combination of visually impressive graphics and stunning maps creates an engaging and visually appealing gameplay experience.

It's free! (We think)

Overwatch 2 successfully builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, offering an evolution of the beloved team shooter. With enhanced gameplay mechanics, engaging storytelling, stunning visuals, and an expanding roster of heroes, Overwatch 2 promises an exciting and immersive experience for fans and newcomers alike.

While Overwatch 2 is technically free to play, one complaint we have is the high cost of some skins or other in game vanity items.  While these are not necessary to win, and they certainly don't give players an advantage over others; they do alienate players who can't or are unable to pay such high costs.

Overall, we strongly recommend Overwatch 2.  It's one of the games we compete in and our Overwatch team has a great time with it.
